After Midnight

Your phone keeps light, nobody answers.
Rain writes lines across the window; coffee turned cold hours ago.
Neither of us moves first.
You look outside like something is waiting.
After midnight, everything feels honest.
After midnight, nobody pretends.
After midnight, even silence knows our names.
Your jacket still on my chair, one shoe near the door.
We keep talking about nothing,
Like nothing can save tonight.
Don't say goodbye not yet; let the room forget we're here.
Everything feels honest after midnight, nobody pretends.
After midnight, stay till the streetlights disappear.
